Week 3: Lots of Silliness

James was working in Tacoma most of this week so I was truly home alone with these tykes. So we also hung close to home, with a couple short walks or a few moments outside on our deck when I could show them my single plant that I'm growing, a jade plant which actually was a start from Haley's grandmother!
I'll just let the photos show you some of the silly fun we had this week:

Anthony likes to show Isaiah how to use toys and, well, you can see how Isaiah feels about that.

We had to do some pants-on-the-head poses.

James thought he looked so handsome with his no-shirt jeans on.

Isaiah got his first big boo-boo on his forehead after a dive into the side of the toy crate. He's still working on his transitions from sitting to, well, any kind of movement anywhere.

There was a whole lot of hat-chewing this week.

And Gus-chasing...

...which resulted in some Gus retaliation. Anthony has no fear!

There was also plenty of window-gazing...

Anthony likes to visit Isaiah while he's eating and help him finish his meal.

Week 2: Isaiah's first sickness!

We just finished our 3rd week together, the baby boys and me. But I'll get to that in my next post.  The previous week, I actually only watched Anthony Monday and Tuesday, because on Tuesday, Isaiah developed a fever that stayed with him until Friday! We made 2 visits to the doctor in those days and they couldn't really diagnose anything, except to say that we should just keep watching him for any other symptoms but a fever in itself isn't a "bad" thing (Yeah, keep telling me that when Isaiah keeps waking up at night and takes an hour to fall back asleep every time!).  Highest temp he reached was 103.5, so yeah, we were concerned. But we just gave him infant Tylenol and tried to keep him cool and comfortable.  By Friday evening the fever was gone, and replaced by a rash all over his head, chest and back on Saturday and Sunday. Thankfully, that faded and was gone Monday this recent week and then he was fine!  I guess it was some kind of viral infection.  Oh well, we're glad it's gone!

Adventures in Babyland, Part II

We're ba-aaaack!  Sorry that my posts dropped off when I returned to work in March... There have been many developments since then! Isaiah now walks and talks...just kidding.  But he is babbling, has 6 teeth, sleeps without being swaddled, and does some pre-crawling scooting.

I'm taking a break from teaching and am so blessed to be able to now stay home full-time with Isaiah!  In addition to caring for him, I'm also nannying Anthony, our friends' 9 1/2-month old. (His mommy, Haley, teaches at the school I used to.)  Watching two boys under age 1 is definitely an adventure and also a ton of fun.  I know I'll return to the classroom in the future, but for now, I am so happy to not have to think about grading, lesson planning, EALRs, staff meetings...

I also feel like I have time to get back to this blog!  Stay tuned for pics and stories from Babyland, Washington.

 This week we did an "Ice Art" project.  I added green, yellow, blue, and red food coloring to water and made colored ice cubes. I put the yellow and green in a zip lock bag and the red and blue in another bag, with paper, and gave it to the boys to experiment with. As they shook and moved the ice around, it created colored art on the paper!

 Anthony seemed more aware of the ice cubes and more interested in them.  Isaiah was more interested in the plastic...
